Fan Mail from Clients

Once in while a client drops a line or leave a voice mail just to say thanks, often for something I think is pretty minor. Yet they're always sweet to receive. I must remember to take the time to thank my own vendors...

Feedback from a client for whom we did a multi-piece print design job, which required that we incorporate new branding artwork developed by an outside firm.

Date: Mon, 14 Apr 2003
From: Tom G
Subject: Space App

Hey AM,

Just wanted to pass along a compliment to you. We showed [principal of the branding firm] the Space Application package and she said she's usually worried when she hands off some of her stuff to a client, that they'll take it and do stuff with it that she doesn't care for, but in this case it surpassed her expectations and she just loved it.

Just thought I'd let you know, it was beautiful.

Thanks

Same client, as a favor I fixed a messed-up Illustrator file that a freelancer had done for them.

Thank you your geekness!

I asked her for a two color and what I got back was the illustration...sans any gradations at all.

In other words, sucky.

Thanx!

Tom

A client for whom we created and host an e-commerce web site passed along this feedback they received

Date: Mon, 21 Oct 2002
From: S. Scherer

Just had to drop you a note to tell you what an excellent Web site you have. This morning I woke up wondering how lobsters breathe. Don't ask why, I can't figure it out myself! I did a Google search: "How do lobsters breathe?" and there was your Web site prominently listed.

Although I'm not in the market for lobsters at the moment, your Web site was interesting, informative, and easy to navigate--unlike the majority of sites on the Web. I learned a few things and will remember your company name in case my friends, family or I need it in the future.

And thank you for answering my question about how lobsters breathe!

Ann Marie,

The LPSFG site is working great. The client loves it and it's getting great response.

So much so that they want to add eight more case studies.

Thanks!

Good Morning Anne-Marie, I have been away for a few days and what a treat your graphic is on the home page. You always make us look good!

Thanks so much,

George

A different web site client, I helped out when their in-house development efforts messed some things up on the site

AM,

You are a saint. Thank you so much for working with David to get these pages live. I owe ya!

A GoLive training client, I traveled to her design firm in eastern Michigan one weekend to teach her staff.

I really appreciated the fact that you were willing to come up on the weekend. Which allowed us to focus on learning instead of phones or client fires.

I did go ahead and order the GoLive 5 Bible from Amazon, but I am really interested in the new features version 6 will have to offer. I don't feel intimidated by the program anymore and am confident that we will be able to do this. Especially after we actually start putting a couple of real ones together. We will definitely show you what we do - feedback is always appreciated.

Thanks for the GoLive mailing list tip. You mentioned a couple of others that I wanted to sign up for and now their names escape me. One seems that it was creativepro? creativebro? something.

You are a true computer geekness I have never met anyone who knew so much about them. The men that I know that brag and swagger over the computer knowledge can't hold a candle to you and I only know this by spending 14 hours with you. So I say HAH to the old boy's club that think girls are not allowed. ;)

From: Val K.

Hi Anne-Marie,

Just a quick note to say  "Thank You - Thank You - Thank You" (can you tell how appreciative I am??) for sharing your expertise with us this past weekend.  You are truly a gifted gal.   A great teacher and a nice person.  What a package you are!  I could go on forever, telling you what an inspiration you have been and how you have opened this door of opportunity to me, when I didn't think it was doable.  (of course I've yet to develop my first website...)  Didn't know you were accomplishing so much did you?  Just add "psychologist" to your  list of accomplishments! hehe.

It was truly a pleasure to meet you.  Am hoping that your return flight home was a noneventful one.

Sincerely,

Val

From a software developer (I wrote new user manuals for some of their products)

Date: Wed, 22 Aug 2001
From: John K.
Subject: Thanks!

AM,

Thanks very much for your help on the project. I had to read through everything once more for a final pass (talk about tedious - I've probably read that thing front to back over 20 times since I first wrote it).

The PDF went out this week, so the manuals will be in next week. I'll be sure to forward you a few copies, and I'll also put together an archive of the updated manuals so you have them on your system.

Let's talk again after Print 01 about new projects. If you get to the show, please stop by our booth.

Take care...

JK

You are truly amazing. If you were one of the "Survivors" I'd put my $$$ on you winning the $1 million. Rudy and Richard would have nothing on you.

Thanks for your great work.

From one of our early web design clients

Subject: Re: Form posted from Internet Explorer

Hi Anne-Marie, Thanks for adding your final touches to complete the website---it looks very good. I am proud to send out e-mails and press releases announcing EWTG's website address. Naturally this is a "live document" and a work in progress. Over time, I will be turning to you for help with future upgrades.

Glad to see the contact form is activated already. I get what you mean about how messages may look different / need unscrambling, etc. depending on the web browser used. Tomoe and I will review your comments regarding this matter when she returns. We appreciate your tips on shareware and various options for improving the format and functionality of the site. Keep those good ideas coming.

Talk to you later!

Barbara

From a QuarkXPress training gig for a magazine production staff

From: LightnerPb
Date: Fri, 16 May 1997
Subject: Training at Lightner

Dear Anne Marie:

Thanks so much for the training session yesterday. Jackie and I felt we both learned a lot, and that it opened up new worlds for us in our art production. Thank you for making it seem so attainable. I want to get the okay from my boss and try to schedule another session in about 4 weeks. As soon as I get the go-ahead, I'll call to set it up with you.

I saw your name mentioned in Blatner's column in the latest XRay magazine., and I told my boss, "This woman tells the experts things they don't know!"

Thanks again,

Connie M.
