Onsite Training

The majority of our training clients request that we conduct the training on-site, at their workplace. Since on-site training is scheduled in workflow-friendly half-day sessions, you and your staff can still get some work done before and after the sessions and be available for work-related deadlines and calls ... and of course you don't have to worry about travelling to a different location on training days.

More importantly, though, when training is conducted at your site, you're able to learn on your own computers, with your customary suite of utilities and plug-ins and your own preferences, often using copies of your working files for training exercises; all of which helps with long-term retention and immediate application of your new skills.

No training room? No problem. The fact is, very few of our clients have the luxury of a dedicated training room. If the group is small — say, one to four or five people — then your group can get trained right at their workstations or cubicles. If the group is larger, we often hold class in a conference room with our laptop and projector. Students still get hands-on time and one-on-one coaching at their workstations, even in a mostly lecture-based scenario. We make it work, and we have fun with it.

The fee for on-site training is blessedly budget-friendly. It's based on the number of students in each half-day session—1 student minimum—and not on the software program itself. Multiple topics/programs can be covered during a single session. The fee increases slightly as additional students are added to the session, with flat rates for groups of six or more, offering the most cost savings per student. We've done on-site, hands-on training for as many as 25 students at once.

If you're not sure how many sessions you'll need, see the Training FAQ sidebar further down on this page for some guidance, or contact Sherri Austin, Seneca's Training Coordinator, who can give you some friendly guidance based on years of experience. Remember, you can just sign up for one or two sessions and see how far you go, then schedule additional ones as necessary. We've taught InDesign to five designers in a single half-day session! (Just the few things they needed to know of course, not everything—and Anne-Marie is still out of breath.)

On-site Training: Out-of-Town

From a training client in Michigan:

"I really appreciated the fact that you were willing to come up on the weekend. Which allowed us to focus on learning instead of phones or client fires...."

"You are a true computer geekness. I have never met anyone who knew so much about them. The men that I know that brag and swagger over the computer knowledge can't hold a candle to you and I only know this by spending 14 hours with you..."

"Just a quick note to say  "Thank You - Thank You - Thank You" (can you tell how appreciative I am??) for sharing your expertise with us this past weekend. You are truly a gifted gal.  A great teacher and a nice person. What a package you are! ..."

We'll suggest our standard start and end times, but the schedule is really up to you. Otherwise, the same features described above for local on-site training applies to out-of-town training (takes place at student's workstations or in a training room, content can cover multiple programs, etc.).
